Meet the Build it stars who help to build your dreams

Build it Lowveld recently honoured its top people: the owners and employees who went the extra mile to offer clients all the service and advice they need to take the stress out of building and renovating.

These individuals were awarded for their hard work and dedication at its AGM at Emnotweni Arena. The Build it Lowveld Region consists mostly of Mpumalanga as well as Swaziland and Mozambique.

Lowveld Regional Store Merit Awards were received by JP Grieb, (Mazibekela); Ruan Bekker, (Bopedi); Daniel de Azevedo,(Matsulu); Richard Stone, (Sifunindlela); (back) Ray Whitmore, National Operations Director; Gawie Rautenbach, (Graskop); Llewellyn Wolmerans, (Praktiseer); Brian Mokoatle, (Manzini); Wiek Walkenshaw, (Letsitele); and Anton Wassenaar, Build it Lowveld Regional Manager.

Anton Wassenaar, Build it Lowveld Regional Manager, said that these individuals’ commitment to family values, entrepreneurship and passion are the reasons for the group’s success.

Build it has a group of 350 retail stores across Southern Africa which have been supplying building materials and serving communities for more than 32 years.

In the Lowveld Sohail Raja’s Build it in Acornhoek was named The Most Improved Store of the year. Top awards also went to stores in neighbouring countries: Kevin Pitzer owner of Construa Build it in Mozambique was awarded Mr Build it, and Akbar Essa from Nhlangano Build it in Swaziland was awarded The Young Achiever of the year.

Suzette Geldenhuys’ Tubatse Build it in Burgersfort was awarded The Regional Store of the year.

Lida Pretorius, Lowveld Retail Operations Manager, and Kevin Richardson, Operations Manager Construa Build it Mozambique.

JP Grieb (Mazibekela), Ruan Bekker (Bopedi), Daniel de Azevedo (Matsulu), and Richard Stone (Sifunindlela).

Certificates were also awarded to new Millionaires Club Members. They are Construa Nacala Build it, Construa Build it Mozambique, Construa Nampula Build it and Praktiseer Build it.

Build it is a division of the SPAR Group. It is a voluntary trading group of individually owned retail stores with more than 10 000 employees across the group.

There are stores in South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho and Mozambique with plans to expand into Botswana and Zambia in the near future. Each store is owner-run and managed, assuring customers of the best possible service and advice.

“Building or renovating your dream home is an incredibly proud moment in anyone’s life but it can also lead to stress at many levels. We supply our customers with quality building materials and offer a variety of services and advice.”

Wassenaar explained that each of the stores is deeply involved in the communities they serve. “We believe that it is our duty and responsibility to give back to the communities that support us,” he added.
