What used to be known as the Pick n Pay centre, is now The Square
This iconic centre in the heart of Mbombela now boasts a new name.
The shopping Centre known as the Pick ‘n Pay Centre will from now on be known as The Square. Situated on one of the main intersections in Nelspruit just off Madiba Drive (R40), shopping at The Square is most definitely convenient.
Pick ‘n Pay has been the anchor store from the first time the doors opened and are still an integral part of the tenant mix. After acquiring the centre on 23 July 2014 the current owners, Russet Trading and Investment 95 (Pty) Ltd, quickly made plans to breathe new life into an old favourite.
Redevelopment started in earnest in 2015 and was completed in October of that same year. This time two major and unique anchor stores were added to the mix, namely Baby City and WestPack Lifestyle Centre. This makes The Square a true destination.
To celebrate the new name The Square will be holding a party on Saturday 13 October honouring its shoppers and the wonderful community of Nelspruit. Be at The Square and participate in all the festivities.
Activities include:
Scratch card competition: Shoppers that spend R150 at any store will receive a scratch card and qualify for special offers or free gifts from another store. Everyone wins, there are no booby prizes. Plus if you drop your completed entry in the entry box you stand a chance to win one of three R2 000 cash prizes. The competition will run until the 12th of October. Winners will be announced on the 13th of October at the party.
Saturday 13 October – It’s YOUR party! Everyone is invited to join us on Saturday 13 October for our It’s your Party event. The Centre will be decorated with balloons and colourful square bunting. With the announcement of the cash prize winners most definitely being a highlight. But the event The Square is most excited about will be the honouring our Heroes ceremony that will take place from 09:00.
The Square is about the community and this is what the day will be about. A major part of the events taking place will be the “Honouring our heroes” ceremony. We have invited pre-primary schools to choose and honour an organisation that they deem to be Heroes. Pupils of Elizabeth Montessori, Chirpy Baby and Toddler Centre, Nellie Miere and Mosaik are hard at work making special thank you cards, to honour their heroes. On this day the Square will donate R10 000 to each of these establishments as well. The Establishments that were nominated are Cansa, Bossies Community Justice, SANCA and Nelspruit SPCA.
The day will be filled with activities such as a demonstration by the Nelspruit Gymnastics Academy and performances by the Kamagugu School’s marimba band. There will be a jumping castle and loads of give-aways. Most certainly a day to add to your calendar.
