Safety tips for kids on holiday
The best advice would probably be to embrace the chaos of holiday traveling

You can try these tips to try and make the chaos less and still make good holiday memories along the way:
• Decorate Christmas trees with your kids in mind, put breakable ornaments out of reach, avoid small objects they can choke on, make sure all light fittings are safe and in working order.
• Set guidelines for the use of public restrooms e.g. the child must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling.
• Set guidelines and a what to do list if a child should get lost in a shopping mall or on a beach. E.g. check with an adult before just taking off in a new direction.
• Give them a beacon to go to if they should get lost and wait until a familiar adult comes to collect you.
• Do not leave with anybody.
• If you ask for help another mother with children would probably be the safest person to go to.
• Make sure they know telephone numbers of parents.
• Have a basic first aid kit and know what to do when.
Homegrown Babies can help with a basic first aid workshop, where they teach parents and caretakers what to do in emergency situations, basic wound and burn treatment, head injuries, drowning and what to do with fever. Their next workshop will be on 27 November 2018 from 18:00 to 20:00.
Happy travels and safe returns
