The Tin Shack embraces the new year with a new look
The Tin Shack has become synonymous with the Marlothi Shopping Centre, which caters for guests and residents' needs.

The revamp of The Tin Shack was completed in June and the restaurant reopened with a lavish, gourmet event.
Guests were treated to samples from their fusion cuisine in the tranquil restaurant and watched rugby at the informal sports café on the deck upstairs.
The elegant new building replaced the old zinc walls and tented roof that residents came to know and love.

Owners, Sharon and Dalwin MacDonald ensure that residents and visitors have all the necessities and treats they need. They also reach out to the community. Last year they hosted several community events and are looking forward to doing so again this year.
At the end of March, the centre was packed with stalls full of art, jewellery, antiques, baked goods and fresh food for the annual Marlothi Easter Festival.

Local non-profit organisations and groupings also had a chance to raise funds and tell people about their cause and projects.
Singer, Rochelle Roos and the LM Boys provided musical entertainment for the hundreds of people who attended and relaxed at the beer garden.
In September, the second annual Rhodesian Reunion proved more successful than the first. Singer John Edmond regaled former Rhodesians with tales of his days in the army and they sang along to his many hits.

People from all over the country and even a few neighbouring ones were in attendance and enjoyed the traditional Rhodesian food, music and entertainment until late that night.
In December, the MacDonalds and staff of Tin Shack hosted a Christmas lunch for Marloth Park’s elderly. This was in conjunction with the Marloth Park Ratepayers Assocation and several other local individuals and organisation.

The senior citizens were treated to lunch, enjoyed musical entertainment and received hampers with necessities and a few treats.
During the year, the Tin Shack also hosted a few lunches for the elderly to ensure they get nutritious meals, meet up with their peers and maybe even make a few new friends.
