Load shedding affecting small businesses

As load-shedding starts again, more and more smaller shops have been seen sending customers away or even completely closing their doors

Khan Bashir is the manager of one of these stores. The Khadima Supa Cleaners is an all-in-one laundromat. Bashir said they do not have a generator as it is too expensive and with the added fuel price, they cannot afford it.

One of the employees, Innocent Moropa told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that people do get upset when they do not receive service or when their washing is delayed. An anonymous client told the paper that she understands it is not the shops’ fault, but it is frustrating.

Meanwhile Khadima hopes that the issue will be resolved soon because they have a tight schedule to keep up with every day. Driving through town one will notice how badly affected these smaller shops really are.
