ELECTION RESULTS: ANC still in the lead
The main surprise was the growth in the VF+ party with 5.27 per cent of the votes nationally.

LYDENBURG – It seems as though the ANC in Thaba Chweu Local Muncipality (TCLM) has once again won the national elections with the majority of votes. By the time of going to press, the ANC in TCLM was in the lead with 65,21 per cent of the votes nationally.
The ruling party has been in control of this region for the past 25 years. It has now again been chosen as the preferred administer for the region. The DA in TCLM was holding on with 14,93 per cent of votes, a decline from 18,46 per cent in 2014. The EFF, however, saw some growth by obtaining 9,51 per cent of the votes. In the last election, this party received 7,59 per cent of the votes in Thaba Chweu.
