Kwena Dam claims another victim

This has been the seventh drowning incident at this dam since 2016.

LYDENBURG – The notorious Kwena Dam in the Badfontein district has claimed yet another life.

What was supposed to be a fun outing with friends turned disastrous when a man fell from a jetski into this dam and drowned.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon. Rescue personnel including Rapid Response and the SAPS Dive Unit from Whiteriver managed to retrieve the body on Monday morning just after 12:00.

This has been the seventh drowning incident at this dam since 2016. The man apparently lost control over the jetski, fell into the water, resurfaced twice and then never resurfaced again.

The name of the man cannot be disclosed until all family members have been informed of his death. Read the full article regarding the incident in this week’s edition.
