Suspect remanded in custody for unlawful possession of gold-bearing material

Hawks spokesman, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, said the intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest

Fernando Zodwayo Nassi Mhlanga (65) was remanded in custody by the Barberton Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

This is after he was arrested by members of the Hawk`s Serious Organised Crime Unit for unlawful possession of gold-bearing materials at the farm, Orega Barberton, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Hawks spokesman, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, said the intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of Mhlanga, who was found in his house in the farm.

“The suspect was then arrested and taken to court where he was remanded in custody,” she said.
The case is postponed to 19 June for a formal bail application.
