The project was previously halted by protesting locals, who demanded jobs, but according to the municipality all has been resolved.
The Motodi Sports Complex is being built by Kipp Consulting, in partnership with Sihle Civil Mwelase Thobs JV contractors. The complex will be placed at the entrance of the village, just behind Green House restaurant.
Although much is still to be done, residents have welcomed the project with open arms.
“This will attract people to our village and we will sell products during sports days,” said one resident, Lizzy Maleka.
The complex will boost a soccer pitch, water networks, sewerage, basketball and netball courts, changing rooms and much more.
It is expected to cost more than R32 million and will be completed before the end of this financial year.
FTLM spokesman, Ngwato Rachidi said the complex is Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) funded. “It is aimed to improve the lives of Fetakgomo Tubatse communities, as per mandate during the public participation period.
“This project is also aimed to contribute to job creation and poverty eradication.”
