Panorama attractions open after week-long strike

Several attractions along the Panorama Route are open again today, following their closure over the past week due to a strike by employees of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency.

MBOMBELA – Tourists can once again access the usual entrances to God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels.

These attractions were blocked over the past week during industrial action by employees of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).

The strikes were reportedly peaceful and no disruptions on the region’s roads were reported.

The MTPA announced in a press release this morning that operations would resume from today after an agreement was reached between the MTPA and NEHAWU, following “vigorous and lengthy negotiations”.

Johannes Nobunga, the CEO of the MTPA apologised to everyone who was inconvenienced by the strike and encouraged visitors to enjoy their stay and explore more attractions in Mpumalanga.

The Panorama Route and surrounds is popular for the wealth of attractions on offer.

Tourists can revisit the history of the region in Pilgrim’s Rest or go hiking on Graskop’s Jock of the Bushveld Trail, which features views similar to those from God’s Window or the Bridal Falls outside Sabie.
