Golf fundraiser for Hencoe
After battling lymphoma for more than a year, a young man is reaching out to the community to support a golf day to raise much-needed funds.

The golf day fundraiser will take place at Tubatse Chrome Golf Club on Saturday August 31.
Hencoe Beukes’s battle with cancer started on November 27, 2018. He was admitted to Midstream Mediclinic with a swollen face and heart cramps. Doctors immediately started doing tests on him. Dr Garderner, a hematologist, told
Beukes that it might be cancer, but they had to send him for a biopsy. The biopsy showed that it was indeed cancer.
Beukes was diagnosed on December 2, 2018 with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma cancer. The hematologist decided that
Beukes had to go for a port operation to ease the chemo treatment. A week after the operation he started with chemotherapy. Everything went well until he finished the second of six rounds of the treatment. He got an infection in the port and doctors decided to remove the port.
After they removed the port his condition deteriorated. He ended up in ICU where he battled for his life. A cardiologist told Beukes’s parents that he had a 50/50 chance of living, but he fought for his life and got better after four days in ICU.
Due to the infection, doctors decided to stop chemo and send Beukes for radiation. He completed a four-week cycle of radiation and went for another scan on May 6, 2019 to see if the cancer was gone, but unfortunately it was not.
Medical bills started piling up and there are still outstanding accounts.
Beukes’s family and friends asked the community to support this fundraiser in aid of their son and friend.
Registrations start at 08:00. For further information or pre-booking send a WhatsApp message to 079-986-3538.
