UPDATE AND GALLERY: Valbros fire under control
Firefighters and Phoenix members fought the inferno for more than an hour.

LYDENBURG – The fire that raged at Valbros is under control. This follows after the swift reaction and cooperation from Rapid Response and Phoenix K9 And Mounted Security Squad.
The fire was apparently started in a veld behind the building. Rapid Response was first to arrive at the scene. Shortly after, Phoenix mobilised its Iveco water cannon which was sent from Lydenburg Smelter to assist with the blaze.
Firefighters and Phoenix members fought the inferno for more than an hour. In the meantime, Valbros stock was moved from the building. Two trucks at the back of the building also caught fire.
Residents were asked to keep clear of the scene as three diesel tanks were positioned close to the building. The extent of the damage is yet to be established.
