TCLM Heritage Day

Thaba Chweu Local Municipality's (TCLM) employees wore their traditional attire in celebration of Heritage Day.

The celebration took place in the municipal hall last Friday.

Excitement was in the air and the different traditional outfits were very colourful.

The employees were entertained by a local music group, The Buddies Band, who performed jazz and afro-pop music. They chanted as some employees danced to the beat of the music.

Friddah Nkadimeng, TCLM executive mayor, delivered her heritage message and appealed to employees to uphold their traditions and cultures.

“The municipality of Thaba Chweu should take this opportunity to understand one another and learn about one another’s cultural heritages. Equally so, we deserve to be a part of this municipality and deserve to be treated equally without looking down on one another.”

She urged parents to teach their children about their heritage.

The municipal employees enjoyed traditional food like samp, mala mogodu, ledombolo, sweet potatoes, mopani worms, chicken feet and African beer, umqombothi.
