Engineering company to sponsor local school with sanitary towels

“We will ensure that we do the handover every month, to assist the girls at the school. We chose this school as we do business with one of the local mines in the area (Marula Platinum Mine). We also wanted to give back to the Manyaka community,” said Danny Sekgobela, from RKD Engineering.

BURGERSFORT – As a way to make a difference, a local engineering company has adopted Mokwadibe Secondary School.

RKD Engineering donated about 20 boxes of sanitary pads to Mokwadibe Secondary School last Friday. They will sponsor the school with sanitary towels every month.

The project is aimed at changing the lives of young girls within the communities of Tubatse.

“We will ensure that we do the handover every month, to assist the girls at the school. We chose this school as we do business with one of the local mines in the area (Marula Platinum Mine). We also wanted to give back to the Manyaka community,” said Danny Sekgobela, from RKD Engineering.

“It is a reality that many young girls are forced to stay at home and miss school when they are on their periods. This is due to a lack of access to sanitary pads,” Sekgobela said. “We will be adding other schools that we can also assist.”

Oscar Chauke, headmaster at Mokwadibe, said they are grateful for the wonderful support from the company. “The girls are happy and relieved.” Chauke said this initiative will help them a lot.
