Lanies stars ace Level 1 Swimming Gala in Mbombela

Laerskool Malelane swimmers took part in the Level 1 Swimming Gala held at the Van Riebeeck Park swimming pool on March 5.

In total, 15 of the school’s swimmers took part in this event, where eight gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals were collected.

Both Malelane Club and school swimmers were able to participate if they were registered with Mpumalanga Swimming.

These Laerskool Malelane learners won medals:

• Makanaka Makoto (9): Silver in 200m freestyle, silver in 50m butterfly, silver in 100m breaststroke, bronze in 100m freestyle, bronze in 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m individual medley

• Nina Oosthuizen (9): Gold in 200m freestyle, silver in 100m backstroke, bronze in 50m freestyle, silver in 50m backstroke, gold in 100m freestyle, silver in 50m breaststroke and gold in the 200 individual medley

• Jayden Beumer (11): Gold in 100m backstroke, bronze in 50m freestyle, bronze in 50m backstroke and bronze in 100m freestyle

• Jean Horn (9): Bronze in 50m butterfly, silver in 50m freestyle and silver in 100m freestyle

• Luan Horn (7): Bronze in 50m freestyle

• Antoine Neethling (9): Silver in 50m freestyle and bronze in 50m backstroke

• William Radley (9): Bronze in 50m freestyle and silver in 50m backstroke

• Mieke van der Merwe (10): Gold in 100m breaststroke, gold in 50m backstroke and silver in 50m breaststroke

• Liam van der Veen (10): Gold in 50m butterfly, silver in 100m breaststroke and silver in 50m breaststroke.
