Treeside Private Academy, the school where your child can explore their strengths
Treeside Private Academy's open day will be held on December 3, with a guest speaker from Cambrilearn.

WHY US?
The modern world has changed the way we view education and children are now used to digital classrooms. The idea that one size fits all is outdated and is no longer applicable for all children.
Teachers have experienced for years how the education system has failed to keep up with modern times. We are still using old methods of teaching, expecting our children to sit in rows and watch the teacher, teach.
In Mbombela, there are very few options for a child who is unhappy or not coping in the mainstream school system. A popular alternative is to enrol your child in a tutor centre, which in turn raises questions such as:
• Is the centre registered with the Government?
• Does the centre conform to the legal requirements needed for such an institution (enough toilets, qualified teachers, proper curriculum etc.…)?
At Treeside Private Academy you can rest assured that we conform to all relevant laws and requirements needed to run and operate our facility, as well as having the peace of mind that only fully qualified, SACE registered teachers are employed.
We understand that no two learners are the same, some children excel in Maths but struggle in English for example. What makes TPA Mbombela unique is that we can adjust and fine tune the curriculum to better suit your child’s unique needs. This is due to TPA Mbombela embracing the digital age and we can easily adjust each individual subject to a grade – whether it be higher or lower – to what the child can manage with and therefore excel at. At TPA Mbombela we allow children to be themselves. We encourage independent though, listening to others, researching and self-discovery.

WHAT WE DO & HOW IT WORKS?
• At TPA Mbombela we meet with all our prospective parents and students to see how we can assist your child.
• We offer an enrolment test designed by an Educational Psychologist and a teacher, to determine which curriculum is best suited for the child.
• Your child is encouraged to come for a trial day to see if they will be happy at our academy.
• We have open communication with the parents and progress reports are given every term.
• Our policy is to work hand in hand with you, the parent, helping you child through their academic career.
• Classrooms have a maximum of 15 kids in a class, this ensures that maximum attention is given to each student.
• The children are given additional project work in class and are shown how to research, find information and create PowerPoint presentations.

SET-UP
We have taken special care to create the space for your child to explore their strengths in all areas, so that they will develop to their full potential and become well rounded individuals. Our classrooms and facilities have been designed with this is mind. The classroom is not set-up in a traditional way and each child is given their own individual workspace. Children work on their own devices which they bring from home. Round tables for group work or one on one with the teacher allows for individual attention and the children learn to cooperate in small groups.
WE USE TECHNOLOGY
In order for children to succeed they need to be computer literate and able to embrace the digital age. Our children need to be equipped with a different skill set from children of the past, without sacrificing the need for human interaction, outdoor play and exercise. Some schools also claim that they use tablets, laptops in class, but constantly change the grade where this begins. We embrace technology at TPA Mbombela and show
children how to use their devices responsibly from the day they start.
NO HIDDEN FEES
In our experience we have seen that parents are getting tired of being asked to pay for extras at schools (stationary fee, uniforms, excursions etc.) Our fees have no hidden costs, we include the curriculum and basic stationary. Children love being comfortable in their own clothes and therefore we have no school uniform.
ACTIVITIES
Jungle gyms, trampolines, soccer and netball fields are just a few of the outside areas we have for our children to let off steam. Children are also encouraged to use the outside area when they need a little outside time. We have a recreational room filled with books, puzzles and board games for rainy days or when your child needs extra research material or just wants to read a good book.
OUR METHODOLOGY AND SERVICE PROVIDERS:
At Treeside Private Academy Mbombela, we use a hybrid teaching method: traditional and digital platforms working together to give the children the best of both worlds. This means we use digital and paper-based work to extend and revise concepts with children. Having the curriculum at your fingertips enables the learner to repeat lessons and practise until they understand a concept completely. Additional one on one with the teacher also reinforces concepts. The children also work in small groups, learning how to be part of a team. We Use two different service providers:
• THINK DIGITAL College offers both the CAPS and British National Curriculum to students. It is a digitally based system and all assessments are done online.
• CAMBRILEARN offers both the CAPS and British National Curriculum to students. It uses pre-recorded lessons, textbooks and workbooks.

ONCE WE HAVE CHOSEN THE RIGHT CURRICULUM FOR YOUR CHILD. WE SIGN THEN UP WITH ONE OF OUR SERVICE PROVIDERS.
• If they join Think Digital, they become part of a bigger digital college.
• The children get a password and login to access the curriculum.
• They are shown how to navigate the system and start watching their lessons.
• After completing a lesson, the children are given exercises or short digital quizzes to ensure continual assessment takes place.
• They will also come and sit with the teacher and use workbooks and worksheets to revise concepts, either in small groups or individually.
• If the right curriculum is Cambrilearn for your child, we sign your child up to the relevant grade and they receive a password and login.
• The best advantage with Cambrilearn is we can have your child on different grade levels according to their abilities.
• The teacher has the lessons ready and is ready to teach in small groups or individually using a textbook.
• Children can access pre-recorded lessons and watch short videos to help explain a concept.
• The children then complete activities in the workbooks provided.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Our children just love coming to school! They are happy, social and well-adjusted. Our hybrid way of teaching means our children are researchers and project developers. No more chalk and talk! Education is evolving and we are at the forefront.
Open day time will be from 10:00 to 14:00.
“In all my years of experience I have never seen such excited, content children. It’s lovely to watch how each child is developing in their own unique way.” – Mrs. Sass, Principal.
