Driver seriously injured in truck accident in Schoemanskloof

Two trucks were both travelling on the westbound lane from Mbombela when the accident occurred in the Schoemanskloof. The injured man was airlifted to Rob Ferreira Hospital.

An accident between Joubert en Seuns and the Viva filling station, involving two trucks, has led to a full closure of the Schoemanskloof today, September 7.

According to Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey, one of the drivers was airlifted off after he had suffered a serious injury to his right hand. “The driver was rushed to Rob Ferreira Hospital. The other driver was uninjured.”

The spokesperson for TRACN4, Solange Soares, said the road was closed off at the Montrose interchange from Mbombela. “Both the heavy vehicles were travelling on the slow lane in the westbound direction. The cause of the accident is still unknown,” she said.

Motorists are advised to use the N4 via Elands Valley.
