Delivery motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in accident in Mbombela

The accident, at the intersection of Koorsboom Street and the R40, involved a delivery motorbike and a bakkie.

A fastfood delivery motorcyclist sustained serious head and leg injuries in a collision with a bakkie at 18:10 on Monday January 8.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Koorsboom Street and the R40 near Sonpark.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, the motorcyclist was transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital after being stabilised with the assistance of advanced life support backup.

“The biker sustained a laceration to his head and his helmet was found on the other side of the street.”

The driver of the bakkie is said to have turned into Koorsboom Street when the collision took place.

The bakkie’s driver was not injured.

Traffic was not obstructed.
