Missing Lydenburg man found
A young man from Lydenburg who had been missing since Good Friday has been safely found, and was reunited with his family.
Riaan de Wet (25) has been found.
According to Hugo Fourie of Lydenburg’s Community Policing Forum (CPF), De Wet was found on Thursday morning, April 4, and reunited with his family after he had been missing for nearly six days.
De Wet went missing on Good Friday. He was apparently visiting a friend at his house in Lydenburg before the incident. It was reported that he had left his friend’s house on Friday and did not return to his parents’ house.

The family contacted the CPF for assistance in spreading the word about De Wet’s disappearance in an attempt to find him.
Steelburger/Lydenburg News posted an article about De Wet’s disappearance on April 3 in an attempt to assist. The paper tried to make contact with the family in order to establish exactly where he was located and how he was eventually tracked down. The family had not responded to the enquiries.
Fourie said that once a person has been found, they respect the family’s privacy, and that all queries regarding the incident be addressed to them.
