Three individuals were hospitalized on Thursday morning, October 16, after reportedly experiencing nausea following the consumption of a fruit juice blend at a local hotel.

The incident occurred during breakfast at Stay Easy Hotel, where two staff members and one guest were served grape juice. According to an eyewitness, all three individuals showed signs of discomfort shortly after drinking the juice.

Two of the affected individuals were taken to Mediclinic Nelspruit, while the third was admitted to Kiaat Hospital. Carmen Savva, general manager at Mediclinic Nelspruit, confirmed on Friday afternoon that three patients had been treated and were in stable condition.

“They will remain under observation overnight,” she said.

Michelle Higgo, general manager at Stay Easy Hotel, shared a comment with Lowvelder about the incident.

“We are deeply concerned by an incident at Stay Easy Mbombela in which some of our guests became unwell. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff are always our highest priority,“ she said.

”As the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to provide further details at this stage, but we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and care.”
