Local campaign cleans Lydenburg and surrounds
May’s Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Cleaning Campaign succeeded with local schools cleaned.
The Brown Coin Campaign fundraising initiative continues to clean the streets of Mashishing and surrounding areas through its local environmental campaigns.
From July 10 to 13, Brown Coin cleaned the premises next to Mashishing High School’s netball court, joined by members from Agree Learning Hub and the Wahn After-School tutoring programme.
The effort follows May’s Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Cleaning Campaign, which saw local schools in Mashishing cleaned. The cleaning campaigns have been welcomed by locals.
“Your commitment, generosity, hard work, and willingness to serve have made a remarkable impact on our school environment,” said Mashishing High School.
“Because of your support and co-operation, we now have a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming space for teaching and learning. This campaign was a true reflection of unity, community spirit, and the shared responsibility of building a better future for our learners. Your contributions, whether big or small, did not go unnoticed and are deeply appreciated.”
Brown Coin’s Mlungisi Dladla said: “The Brown Coin Campaign fundraising initiative is created to bring pride by keeping our township clean and educating the community not to litter, because no one will come and clean our area for us. We need to do it ourselves.”
Dladla pleaded with locals to assist in donating building equipment and appliances to renovate local facilities. Donors can also sponsor refreshments and other needs.
“We are raising funds to develop classrooms, study spaces, sanitation facilities and learning resources. We will also host a community cleaning campaign to promote a cleaner, safer and healthier neighbourhood.”
Residents who have 5c, 10c, 20c, and 50c coins can donate them to Brown Coin. Apart from donations, locals can volunteer by joining cleaning campaigns and sharing information about the initiative with family, friends and local businesses.
The organisation thanked local communities, businesses and the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality’s community safety department for their consistent support during their programmes.
