Nashua franchises in top four

Three of Nashua’s sister franchises in the province are celebrating a monumental victory against competitors across Africa after landing under the top four franchises at the Nashua Limited Franchise Awards Ceremony.

Nashua Mpumalanga, Nashua Lowveld and Nashua Highveld were nominated out of 43 other franchises under Nashua Limited’s banner, as well as SADC franchises, during the continental awards ceremony.

The owner and chairperson of all three branches, Junior van Niekerk, shared the news of their win after Nashua Mpumalanga claimed second place as the franchise of the year as well as being recognised as the highest contributor in both traditional and complementary business under medium franchises.

Nashua Lowveld was hot on their heels landing in third place as franchise of the year, while Nashua Highveld clinched the title as the most improved franchise.

Eddie de Lange, managing director of Nashua Lowveld, said getting themselves to this position was a daily effort.

It entailed a change in the company culture and teamwork. It was a matter of consistency, hard work, dedication from all staff and then, of course, loyal customers.

“We try every day to make 100 things 1% better instead of improving one thing by 100%. It is all about small changes.

“And we can just say thank you to our clients. If it weren’t for the clients of Mpumalanga and the Lowveld, we would never have been able to achieve what we did.”

The most important thing he highlighted was the fact that they adhered to the vision set out at the end of 2021 – for the three branches to feature in the top spots. As a group, they achieved this.

The trio celebrated their victory at a prestigious gala event in Turkey represented by Steve Anderson, the managing director of Nashua Mpumalanga, Ludick Meyer, Nashua Lowveld, and Adv Mtho Xulu, the group’s CEO.

Van Niekerk said the nominees were expected to meet a certain standard of targets within service delivery, sales achievements and training requirements.

Moreover, the three franchises managed to keep their position within the top five for the past two years.

Junior van Niekerk says:

“To my extraordinary teams in our Nashua Mpumalanga, Nashua Highveld and Nashua Lowveld franchises, “How do I even start expressing how I felt last night? You are an absolute rare bunch. Thanks for being an exemplary team! I feel honoured as I get to associate myself with all of you.

“During November 2021, I asked you all to share in my vision of achieving the extraordinary goal of winning Franchise of the Year and have all three of our franchises in the top three.

“You all took the message and made this vision your own. We all lived our values as a group and through this, reached this massive goal. “Although we didn’t achieve the above, we received Franchise of the Year and Most Improved. We have proven that any goal can be achieved.

“It is humbling to know that all three franchises are in the top four in the country. “You all showed that as a work family with sympathy and respect for one another with a fighting and passionate spirit towards the goal, anything can be achieved.

“Words will fall short to express my appreciation for this dream team consisting of our three franchises. This team is like the bundle of sticks, which proved that united, we stand and win. Congratulations to all of you.

“At the same time, I want to thank God for guiding us, giving us faith and wisdom in achieving our goals, and at the same time keeping us humble.

“I want to also say thank you to my fellow shareholders, Mtho, Steve Anderson, Eddie de Lange, Elsa Erasmus, Ludick Meyer, Steve Opperman and our executive management team for all your hard work and sacrifices.

“Last but not least, and the most important people in my life: to my lovely wife, Celeste, and my kids, Ruben and Nine, thank you for loving and supporting me unconditionally. You are always by my side. I love you forever.

“A big thank you to all our customers as we would not have achieved this without you.”
