Horizon Academy Malelane’s athletes have been busy of late, taking part in both Interhouse and district competitions.
The school’s Interhouse meeting was held on February 5, and all the learners from grades R right up to 12, took part and gave it their all in the colours of their houses – red, blue, black and white.
Only two days later, it was time for the circuit meet. The athletics team travelled to Suikerland for the circuit competition on February 7. The team comprised of 30 learners, both boys and girls aged between 14 and 19.
Horizon Malelane fared quite well, as the athletes were motivated to win in their respective track and field events. They certainly did not disappoint; four athletes qualified for the subdistrict event.

The following learners are going to represent the circuit in the subdistrict competitions:
• Bongiwe Khoza
• Phila Ngomane
• Leandra Mashabela
• Justin George Jr.
The Horizon Malelane teachers also did their best in officiating, with special mention to Sibanda B, who ended up as one of the starters, which saw the event run smoothly from the moment he took over.
