Christmas Needs Drive to bring hope to children
This festive season, Divergent Ops, together with community partners, is launching the Children’s Christmas Needs Drive in Mbombela.
Led by Divergent Ops and our Divergent Lady of 2025, Alicia Whitting, the initiative brings joy and relief to children in Sterkspruit, Katoen, Bettie’s Haven and John Mdluli Primary School by collecting and distributing essential items.
The drive kicks off on December 5, with a convoy departing from SUPERSPAR Westend at 08:00 and stopping at Crossing and The Grove. Supporters are invited to join the convoy, wave along the route, and connect at The Daily for coffee and breakfast before teams head out to deliver parcels. In total, 437 children will benefit from this campaign.

Thanks to a main hamper sponsorship from Patel Hardware, donations will include school stationery, food parcels, fresh produce and festive treats.
Parcel drop-off points are set up at Westend, Crossing, The Grove, De Hallen, Steiltes, Courtside, Orchards, and Sonpark outlets, making it easy for the community to contribute at their nearest SPAR, SUPERSPAR or KWIKSPAR.
Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor items or provide financial support for bulk purchases.
Sponsors will enjoy visibility through logo placement on digital content, event banners, social media shout-outs and mentions on local media platforms. They will also have the opportunity to join the convoy and showcase their support.
With strong media partnerships and Whitting’s dynamic social presence, the drive promises wide awareness through photo stories, video reels and press coverage.
This campaign is more than a donation drive – it is a movement of compassion and community spirit. Every gift, whether a box of crayons or a loaf of bread, makes a difference. Together, we can fill a need this Christmas and create lasting change for children and families.
