Jogger killed along the R40 identified
The victim's husband confirmed no funeral arrangements have been made yet.
The woman who was hit by a car along the R40 near the University of Mpumalanga turn-off yesterday morning has been identified as Happy Shakwane (46) from KaMagugu.
Her husband, Oral, positively identified her body. According to him, she jogged the same route every morning and he was shocked to receive the call that she had been hit by a car.
When I first arrived at the scene I thought maybe she was still alive, but seeing her in that situation broke my heart. It felt as though I was dreaming, but reality caught up with me. She has gone in a very painful way. My wife was a happy person, a pillar of strength who always kept the family together in good and bad times,” he said.
Happy is survived by Oral, a son, her mother, sisters and brothers.
Oral said funeral arrangements have not yet been confirmed, as the family still needed to collect her body from the government mortuary. However, he called on the police to investigate the matter so that justice could be done for his wife.
