Woman’s decomposing body discovered in a Mbombela river

Anyone missing a loved one that fits the description of the woman is urged to contact the Nelspruit Police.

Mpumalanga police are calling on the the community to assist in identifying a woman whose body was found floating in a river in Mbombela near Nelspruit Crushers earlier today, February 18.

Police were summoned to the scene shortly after 08:00 and paramedics confirmed that she was deceased.

“We are working to determine the cause of death and identify the individual. The deceased is an African female at her late 40’s. She has braided hair in dreadlocks and was wearing a black top with red- and yellow-coloured roses,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane.

The police have asked anyone who might have information about what happened to the woman or can assist in her identification to come forward.

She was unable to supply the name of the river in which the body was discovered, but said an inquest has been opened to determine the cause death.
