Care Buddies host year end function
"We as Care Buddies try to spend as much time with the elderly and others who are in need as we can. We are there to keep them company, sing to them, read to them and we often try and take them on small outings, if funds are available.
NELSPRUIT – The elderly at Pumalanga Retirement Village will be entertained and spoiled by the Care Buddies on November 30.
This year the theme is high heels and lace. The luncheon will include chicken, roast potatoes, pumpkin fritters, green beans and for dessert, ice cream and meringues, topped with cherries. And of course, fruit punch. There are a few of the elderly who enjoy a small glass of wine. The tables will be decorated with polka dots, lace, and flower arrangements in high-heeled shoes. Hoërskool Nelspruit students have offered to entertain the attendants.
“We as Care Buddies try to spend as much time with the elderly and others who are in need as we can. We are there to keep them company, sing to them, read to them and we often try and take them on small outings, if funds are available. The time we spend with these dear people who sit and wait with anticipation for us to visit them, is as special to us as it is to them. They enjoy the company as much as we enjoy making them laugh and giving them some of our time,” said Nelspruit chairman Lynette Adams.
The next event to look forward to is the Christmas lunch at Macadamia in Nelspruit. It will take place on December 6 at the lapa. Entertainment will be provided by a musician. Care Buddies will set the tables and assist with the serving of the food. Citybug will drive the folks from Macadamia Frail Care Centre to the Village Lapa.
