Customer alleges unfair treatment at Game Store
He said the store agreed to fix his machine without any additional cost and even signed that it was only going to fix the bolt that tightens the chain. Mkhonza claimed he went for a month without any feedback from the store.
BURGERSFORT – Mr Holani Mkhonza alleged that Game in Tubatse Crossing treated him dishonestly as its customer. He accused the store of not complying with the agreement it had made with him.
This happened after he bought a Homelite chainsaw that had had a loose chain and therefore it could not work properly. Mkhonza bought it in February with a three-year guarantee.
He said the store agreed to fix his machine without any additional cost and even signed that it was only going to fix the bolt that tightens the chain. Mkhonza claimed he went for a month without any feedback from the store.
Mkhonza was surprised when Game informed him that his machine could only be fixed if he paid an additional cost of R850. The store claimed that its repairers had to fix more parts on the machine and therefore the customer had to pay. Mkhonza was astonished by this because the machine’s guarantee was still valid.
Steelburgers/Lydenburg News contacted the store manager, Mr Michael Cowen who promised to deal with the issue.
“I can confirm that I spoke to the complainant and we have reached an agreement, he will get his repaired Homelite or a new one between Wednesday and Thursday,” said Cowen.
“Mkhonza had been talking to the people who couldn’t deal with his problem, but now that I talked to him. We will deal with the issue,” he added.
At the time of going to print, Mkhonza had not yet received his chainsaw.
