Driekoppies side, Mashaba United, showed why they deserved to continue their Selati Cup title chase.

Playing against Lubombo Young Stars, it was anyone’s game up until the second half when Mashaba United made child’s play of Lubombo Young Stars’ defense, scoring two goals in a matter of minutes.

During the match of the day for many, Mawewe Chiefs clipped off Masibekela Blue Birds’ wings. Mawewe Chiefs opened the scoring after only 15 minutes of play.

At half-time, Mawewe Chiefs were leading 2-0, with their goalkeeper hardly being called into action.

When the teams returned from the break, Masibekela Blue Birds were better composed and put on a much better performance.

Even after going down 3-0 minutes after the second stanza got underway, Masibekela Blue Birds, were looking threatening in making a comeback into the game.

Their relentless push towards Mawewe Chiefs’ goal spot paid off as they were able to score two goals and narrow their opposition’s lead. However, Mawewe Chiefs reasserted their dominance in the game and extended their lead once more.

After 90 minutes, the clash ended on a scoreline of 4-2 in favour of Mawewe Chiefs.

Langeloop Black Burn United concluded the games of the day when they took on Boschfontein Dynamos in a thrilling, however, limited goal clash.

Langeloop Black Burn reserved their last 32 spot with a 1-0 victory after 90 minutes of play.
