Childline now seated in comfort to spread more love

The organisation provides a counselling service for children and assures that kids in need of specific interventions by their communities get the necessary help

MBOMBELA – Be Seated, a local company that fixes chairs, recently extended its service to Childline Mpumalanga free of charge.

The non-profit organisation’s (NPO) director, Dr Benitta Nel said they went around obtaining quotations to find the most cost-effective one. She said the service would have cost them R3 000.

After the company was approached by Childline Mpumalanga to fix their office chairs, Be Seated decided to repair them at no cost.

According to Ms Betsie Brink from Be Seated, the company has the welfare of children at heart and fixing the chairs was its way of giving back to the community and enabling Childline to do the wonderful work it does.

“It is the only organisation that gives children a voice to report a crisis in their lives – empowering kids to fend for themselves with the help of trained professionals,” Brink added.

The organisation provides a counselling service for children and assures that kids in need of specific interventions by their communities get the necessary help. It also engages with communities and stakeholders towards sustainable care and support for orphaned and vulnerable children and their support structures.

Nel said they were extremely grateful for assistance they had received from Be Seated. “We had a lot of broken chairs and we were pressed because buying new ones would be the best option but we didn’t have enough money to do that,” she said.

Nel added that the company was very open in assisting them and the chairs were fully functional. “It is very humbling to note that they are people who still see it fit to play their humanitarian role in assisting worthy causes,” she said.

She also mentioned that as an NPO, the service was more valuable because they depended on the community for survival.
