Start your collection: The Old Joe hunt begins today

This edition of Lowvelder is the one to get hold of to start your collection of photos of Old Joe.

MBOMBELA – Make sure to grab your pull-out collection chart and look for the picture hidden away somewhere in this edition – and the next 25 – over the coming three months. Limited back copies will be available at the offices of Lowveld Media in Mbombela.

Marius Bakkes, initiator of the Old Joe project with Solange Soares-Nicholson of TRAC.

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the man-like stone sentinel on the N4 at Patata Neck in Schoemanskloof, one of 26 guises of Old Joe will be printed in each edition of the paper until the end of October.

Be on the lookout for the specially marked photo to be eligible for a bi-weekly prize.

This week the lucky winner will receive travel vouchers worth R1 320 from Citybug, the leading shuttle service connecting the Lowveld with the rest of South Africa.

Should you be so lucky to find a specially stamped picture, rush to our offices at 12 Stinkhout Crescent with your up-to-date collectors’ chart to claim the prize.

Loving Old Joe are Julia Burger and Colletha Noppe of Lowveld Media.

Lovely family holidays and stays at some of the popular resorts in the Lowveld also await the winners of a grand draw for all of those who compete.

A word of thanks to those contributed to Old Joe’s party this week: Helen’s Cake Craft & Candy Buffets and Mount Sheba for sponsoring the main prize, mineral water and gifts. The catering was done by Crossing SUPERSPAR and special thanks goes to TRAC for the roadside-safety management during the event.

Cutting the special Old Joe birthday cake are Buks Esterhuizen and Solange Soares-Nicholson.
