Cellphone shop hit in recent spate of robberies

This is a second business robbery to be reported in the area in less than 24 hours.

BARBERTON – Crime continues to be on the increase in this area with another armed robbery – the second one to be reported in less than 24 hours. The incident occurred at Hyper Cellular Vodacom this morning.

The store is situated in the Jock of the Bushveld Shopping Centre.

According to the owner, Rishad Gani, at about 03:30 he received a call from Barberton Hi-Tech Security informing him that an alarm went off at the store.

Upon arrival, they found the door wide open. The cupboards where the cellphones were stored were smashed, and various items were stolen.

On Wednesday morning, four suspects attempted to bomb an ATM at Jathira Fuel Station on the R40.
