Get ready for an overnight marathon against cancer
Show your support for cancer survivors and see how long you can walk around the track at the 12-hour CANSA Relay for Life in Malalalane on October 28.
Be a Superhero for CANSA and join the Relay for Life Onderberg at the Malelane Rugby Club on October 28 and 29.
The relay is an overnight team event that helps to raise awareness for cancer and funds to fight it. It will start at 18:00 on the Saturday and end the Sunday at 06:00.
Friends, families, businesses and organisations can enter in teams of 10 to 15 members (max 20). Team members will take turns to walk around the track, with a least one member on the field at all times to symbolise the fact that the disease never sleeps.

Registration is R650 per team with R50 per person extra if the number exceeds 15 people.
They will be allocated a spot to pitch up their tent, chairs or sleeping bags and can decorate it to fit their theme.
A points system will be used to determine the winners and teams will be required to illustrate health and cancer-fighting themes. There will be lots of prizes and three trophies up for grabs.

Since it is an event promoting healthy living and fighting cancer, people will be fined for smoking, drinking or lighting fires on the field.
Anyone who wouldd like to light a fire will need to make special arrangements with the committee and take steps to protect the field.
While people are taking turns to circle the track, there will be fun activities at the centre of the field for a donation of R5. Committee members encourage participants to start gathering R5 coins so they do not miss out.
A special luminaria ceremony will be held, where teams will light candles in paper bags, decorated in memory of loved ones who fought cancer.
Each team will receive 10 luminaria bags when they enter.
The majority of the funds raised will be utilised to support CANSA’s various activities and services in the area.
To enter a team, contact Adri Strauss on 073-174-5507 or send an email to bensy@lantic.net.
