Baby Mienke back on a drip after change in condition
Baby Mienke's infection numbers have increased which means she will be placed back on a drip and antibiotics

MBOMBELA – Mienke has been placed on a drip once again. This is due to difficulties ingesting her milk, her mother, Verna, said in a statement on Friday.
Her formula has also been changed and given to her through a feeding tube. According to her mother, Verna, her infection numbers are increasing which will see her being put on antibiotics for the next five day.
She is still having difficulties sleeping and cries a lot. The eight month old in being treated at the Netcare Waterfall City Hospital in Johannesburg after she choked on her bottle while in the care of her day mother last month.
She has sustained severe brain damage affecting her ability to see. There is a possibility she might not be able to walk and talk.
After weeks of treatment at the hospital, she was due to go for rehabilitation which would see her being taught to suck, balance her neck and sit. I was revealed yesterday that she would not be eligible for the rehab as she has continuous fits and cannot cope without her medication.
According to her father, Ryno, doctors were waiting for her to be more stable before she could be considered for rehab again.
