Make a difference by adopting a patient

Hospice is in great need of ongoing funding in order to deliver its valuable services to the White River community. The organisation requires a sustainable income, one which covers its monthly costs on an ongoing basis.
“We are entirely reliant on donations,” said Andrea Matthews, volunteer marketing coordinator.
She said each of their patients receive professional palliative care at no charge other than an initial R350 administrative fee (if the patient can afford it).
They are therefore inviting local businesses and individuals to “adopt” a patient. In other words, to sponsor the monthly costs of one hospice patient. Each patient costs Hospice in the region of R2 500 per month, and at any one time they may have 25 to 35 patients in their care.
“We invite you, or your business, to adopt a patient – being any patient who happens to be on our programme at the time – ideally for an amount of R2 000 per month, or R2 500 at best.
“However, should you be willing to sponsor a patient for a smaller amount, we would gladly welcome your contribution,” she said.
