Leeupaadjie a big headache
Approximately three months ago the City of Mbombela started construction on a slipway but since then construction has halted with no clear reasons for the stoppage.

Residents of Steiltes and Sonheuwel have been battling to get to work on time due to daily traffic jams at the intersection of Leeupaadjie Street and Dr Enos Mabuza Drive.
Approximately three months ago the City of Mbombela started construction on a slipway in an effort to divert traffic and increase the flow of vehicles to and from the city into residential areas.
Construction had just gotten underway when work was suddenly halted, leaving behind an incomplete construction site.
According to residents, traffic is at its worst in the morning from 07:00, and again in the afternoons from around 16:30.

“I am frustrated and appalled that things have taken this long. We have needed a slip road for at least five years, and the issue has been getting worse and worse. When we saw the construction getting underway we were excited to see progress, but it has been standing still with no explanation,” said Mellissa Bushby, a resident of the area.
According to residents long queues are commonplace, and lead to some people taking chances when turning into Dr Enos Mabuza Drive. An added issue readers raised was the high speeds at which residents drive when coming down the steep hill toward the city.

According to City of Mbombela Local Municipality spokesman, Mr Joseph Ngala, he is not aware of any stoppages relating to the construction or reasons why there has been no progress. At the time of going to print he was not available for further comment.
