VIDEO: Faulty brakes responsible for truck that crashed into N4 protest
Although several trucks and vehicles were involved in the crash on the N4 during the #BlackMonday protest, it has come to light that it was caused by one truck which had faulty brakes.
MIDDELBURG – According to a report by Middelburg Observer, the driver of the truck claimed that he was unable to stop the truck to avoid hitting the convoy.
One of the drivers in the convoy, Mr Jonathan Horsford, said that with closer inspection it was discovered that the trucks brakes did not seem to function whatsoever.
The impact from the truck was so severe that at least five vehicles were smashed off the road surface and on to the middleman section to the side.

A video also surfaced which was recorded by a dash-cam which was mounted in another truck that was also travelling behind the convoy. In the video the initial truck is seen smashing several cars off the road right in front of the second truck. Two people were rushed to hospital but so far no fatalities have been reported.
