Teeing off for a dance

Lucas Ruf, a 16-year-old Uplands learner hosted a successful golf day over the weekend in aid of the college’s matric dance.

With the help of his mom Tanja, Lucas organised an excellent fund-raiser at White River Country Club, with enough sponsors to offer players a worthwhile experience.

Lucas chose this way of raising funds since he is a passionate golfer himself. Organising such an event was not a first for him, though.

The day saw seniors and four junior players participating.

Andrew and Roger Mc Ewen were the winners of the better ball stableford on 44 points, winning a free four-ball to Leopard Creek. This was sponsored by Oliver’s Restaurant and Lodge.

An auction at the prize-giving helped Lucas to raise even more money for the cause.
