Run and raise awareness for the future

The Extra Mile trail run, hosted by the More Community Trust and Sabi Sand Pfunanani Trust, takes place this Saturday.

This event hopes to bring communities and conservation together to raise awareness and funds for Jabez Preschool.

Starting at 08:00 at the Digital Learning Campus at Huntington Village, the run follows a route through the communities of Huntington and Justicia, finishing on the soccer field adjacent to Hunt Digital Learning Campus and Hundzukani Primary School.

A registration desk will still be available from 06:30 at the event for late entries and registrations.

The Picasso’s food truck, G’s Restaurant and Pancake Stop will be among the exciting food and beverage options that will keep everybody refreshed. The organisers will also host a fundraising auction, presented by Warrior Ric, in the beer tent after the run.

Some stunning items will come under the hammer, among others, a vacation to Cape Town including bed-and-breakfast accommodation at the exquisite More Quarters Hotel and return flights with SA Airlink from any major destination (including Mbombela and Skukuza); a getaway to the Royal Swazi Hotel in Swaziland; and some items from Savanna, Kappa Sportswear and Rogue Leather.

Southern Cross School will accommodate little go-getters at the Extra Mile Kids Zone, staffed by their teachers, and offer a wide variety of exciting activities like a demonstration by the team at Kinyonga Reptile Centre and a jumping castle. Kids Zone entry is set at R20 including a meal with an additional R20 per hour charged after the first hour.

The route runs adjacent to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, through community wilderness areas and through villages and past people’s homes.

It is imperative that the environment be preserved. Refuse bins will be provided at the drink stations and at the start and finish for any and all debris. Any runner littering the route will be disqualified and barred from future events.
