SANParks increases conservation fees so that rhinos get a boost
An adult South African citizen or resident now pays R93 per day and a child (two to 11 years) R47 to visit the KNP.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has increased its conservation fees for all national parks, including the Kruger National Park (KNP) from November 1.
All funds generated from conservation fees are used with the primary mandate of SANParks, which is to oversee the conservation of South Africa’s biodiversity, landscapes, seascapes and associated heritage assets through a system of national parks.
General manager: media, PR and stakeholder relations, Rey Thakhuli, said the parks managed by SANParks that protect rhino populations had a marginally higher increase in the annual conservation fee to assists with the rising operational costs of anti-poaching activities.
“The conservation fee therefore includes a portion dedicated to rhino conservation at these parks.”
