18 injured in collision

Emergency services received the emergency call at 07:35 and immediately responded.

Eighteen people were injured on Monday morning after a truck and three cars collided outside the University of Mpumalanga.

According to Russel Meiring from ER24’s communications office, paramedics found the truck in the road while the three light motor vehicles were parked on the side.

“On closer inspection, paramedics found that 18 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found.”

It is understood that a number of the patients had been travelling on the back of the truck at the time of the accident.

Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby provincial hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.
