Black Cats claim first season win and Impalas triumph

On Saturday, the KaMhlushwa Black Cats were victorious over the Hazyview Rugby Club for their first win this season. The Impala Rugby Club also managed to home field victory against Lydenburg.

The KaMhlushwa Black Cats celebrated their first Phakisa Mayor’s Reserve League win at KaMhlushwa Stadium on Saturday, claiming a 27-19 victory over Hazyview Rugby Club.

Both teams were at the bottom of the log and hoping to score a win after losing all of their previous matches.

Hazyview drew first blood with an unconverted try and the Black Cats fought back with a try, and successful conversion.

By half-time, the Black Cats had scored another try.

The Hazyview pack dominated the scrums in the second half and scored two converted tries. The home team was inspired and beat back Hazyview’s defence for two more tries.

Nhlakanipho Malungisa slammed the last nail in the coffin with a fifth try for the Black Cats.

Try scorers were Manqoba Dube, Teddy Mabunda, Delton Thusana and Nhlanganipho Malungisa.

The Impala Rugby Club also had a home field victory of 21-14 against the Rooikatte of Lydenburg.

The tough match saw Lydenburg take the lead early on, with a half time score of 14-7 in their favour.

The Impalas fought back with two penalty kicks and a converted try before the final whistle.

Try scorers were Siyabonga Khoza and Jacques Liebenberg and Cashwell Khoza was the excellent kicker.

The Black Cats and Impala Rugby Club will be facing off in Komatipoort from 15:30 on Saturday afternoon. All supporters are welcome. Entry is R10 per person.
