Spend timeless moments with Winston’s art

The artist will also host a walkabout at the gallery on Saturday June 15.

Winston Mojalefa Thekiso is exhibiting his art in the White River Gallery at Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre until June 22 .

The solo exhibition of drawings on paper was opened on June 1 by Dr Nathani Lüneburg, a senior lecturer in visual arts at Unisa.

Thekiso is currently based in Mbombela and Lüneburg hails from White River.

The artist, born and raised in Evaton, graduated with a diploma in graphic design at the Technikon Witwatersrand in 2000.

His preferred drawing medium is a ballpoint pen, which he uses to slowly build up his artwork which depicts social, political and economic concerns of living in the country.

He said he draws inspiration from everyday events, but is particularly interested in the workings of the human mind, therefore most of his work is quite abstract.

He is fond of geometric shapes and flowers to create detailed work that challenges the viewer to explore and come up with their own understanding of what each piece is about.

The artist will also host a walkabout at the gallery on Saturday June 15.

Gallery hours are 10:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 14:00 on Sundays and public holidays.

Enquiries: Dana MacFarlane on 082-784-6695.
