GWF leading hearts

Leading from the Heart is a series that celebrates heart leadership, inclusivity, kindness and diversity.

The Good Work Foundation’s (GWF) inaugural Leading from the Heart gathering was launched at The Palm in New York City on May 2.

It was hosted by tennis legends Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss.

King is also the founder of the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative (BJKLI), created to address the critical issues required to achieve inclusive leadership that will lead to significant changes in how women and men operate in the world.

King and Kloss are both fierce human rights warriors and the BJKLI strives to promote and showcase those pioneers who are on the front lines of building a more respectful and inclusive society.

Leading from the Heart is a series that celebrates heart leadership, inclusivity, kindness, diversity and the ability of those things to propel organisations, movements and communities forward into a more hopeful future.

“Yes, we need business plans and strategies, but more than ever we also need meaning, courage, long-term planning and the ability to see the potential in others,” CEO and founder, Kate Groch, said. “That is what leading from the heart means to us.”

Groch and GWF USA Foundation trustee, Boyd Varty, shared the organisation’s origin story. It tracks back to a time when she was a travelling teacher and Boyd and his sister Bronwyn her students in Africa.

Dave and Shan Varty, two of GWF’s biggest supporters and co-founders of Londolozi Game Reserve, also attended the event. Londolozi is GWF’s founding partner.

Leading from the Heart stopped at three cities in the US and hope to continue to curate this as a powerful and thought-provoking series where people can gather to discuss and celebrate people and organisations that have the same purposes.

At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
