Citizen safety prioritised with deployment of new officers

It was a proud day for the City of Mbombela Local Municipality when they appointed 45 new traffic and law-enforcement officers on Monday.

According to municipal manager, Neil Diamond, they realised the need for additional officers in the municipal area. Approximately half of these will be deployed in the City of Mbombela itself.

“We needed to make resources available in the city which include humans as well as the tools of the trade,” Diamond said.

“We will also purchase 10 additional traffic and law-enforcement vehicles in addition to the 10 we bought in 2018/19.”

Diamond said in order to keep citizens safe, these law-enforcement officers will enforce municipal by-laws and also ensure that road users are protected at all times.

“It is part of the commitment of the City to improve all services in the community.”
