Woman sentenced for human trafficking 6-year-old Moz boy

A woman was sentenced to 10 years in  jail for keeping a six-year-old Mozambican boy  like a slave. 

MBOMBELA –  Judith Nyantumba (57), was convicted and sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment by the Carolina Regional Court for trafficking in persons.

Hawks spokesman Capt Dineo Sekgotodi said in May 2018 Nyantumba smuggled the boy from Mozambique to South Africa and later exploited him to work for her without payment.

She said their unit took over the case immediately after it was reported and ensured that the suspect was brought to book.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate For Priority Crime Investigation Maj Gen Zodwa Mokoena applauded the investigating team together with the prosecuting team for ensuring that the matter was finalised speedily.

She further urged the public to report such incidents whereby young children are exploited.
