A fire may have caused disaster at Kruger Adventure Lodge near Hazyview little more than a year, but the owners were not ready to let their hopes and dreams go up in smoke too.
From the ashes arose an attractive new reception and restaurant area.
In April 2018 Hazyview Herald reported on the fire that originated from the kitchen which destroyed the reception, restaurant and bar area before it could be contained.
This week owner and director, Kavi Naidoo proudly unveiled the lodge’s renovated reception and restaurant area to the newspaper and reminisced a bit about that fateful night when they had to look on when many years’ hard work and investment went up in flames.
“It was a very tough time as we were obviously not prepared for such a disaster,” said Naidoo. “We literally lost our whole front office set-up, restaurant area, kitchen equipment, furniture and collectible art pieces in about three hours.”
Being fully booked at the time added to the pressure they had to endure, as they had to literally set up a restaurant from scratch, and overnight.
Their innovative bush bistro luckily became a huge success and guests loved the natural outdoor feel from the onset. “The reviews from guests then helped us to plan the new reception space,” he said.
Through the support and encouragement from staff, families and friends they could recently, and proudly, relaunch the new reception and restaurant area.
“We owe a special thanks to the staff, partners and associates of Kruger Adventure Lodge,” Naidoo said. “The positivity and ‘never give up’ attitude from our staff paint the perfect picture of our spirit at this establishment.”
