Inspirational mama hosts high tea

She has more than 140 children aged between eight and 14 in her care.

Clover Mama Afrika’s Mama Sipiwe Solomons recently hosted her Madiba High Tea at her care centre in Hazyview, and also showed recent changes to the Clover team.

During the Clover Mama Afrika Smarties Week in January Sipiwe was announced as one the winning Mamas of the Ultimate Cleanliness & Hygiene Award and that her centre would be visited for a high tea event.

Mama Sipiwe’s Hosanna Community Church and Projects cares for orphans and vulnerable children, offering relief of pain and suffering to HIV/Aids, TB and other chronic illnesses.

She also established a skill training academy in order to empower the youth, began a job creation programme as a means of income to sustain the project and offered a religious sanctuary.

She has more than 140 children aged between eight and 14 in her care.

“Walking around the centre with Mama Sipiwe and seeing how she manages her projects is a good reminder of why she is a deserving winner,” explained Prof Elain Vlok of Clover corporate services. “She has a variety of projects which she leads with pride and has equally proud workers. She made Clover Mama Afrika very proud with the high tea event and was an excellent host with her VIP guests which included project partner Kgomotso Bokaba and Helen de Beer of MiX Telematics.”

Mama Sipiwe’s Mihandzu Prayer House and Retreat was the venue for the event.

Kgomotso Bokaba (HR and transformation executive at MiX Telematics) was in awe when she arrived at the venue. “It is absolutely amazing how far Mama Sipiwe has come. Her story is an inspiration to us all. She started her centre in a tent and today she manages a successful centre and guest house. Her work is testimony to perseverance as well as the continued support she receives,” said Kgomotso.

Clover Mama Afrika works hard to make sure that the mamas they work with are regularly trained, so as to ensure they keep learning new skills as well as refreshing the skills that they currently have, to continue to make a difference in their communities.
