Patience on our roads can help to curb the number of accidents
Fortunately, the drivers and occupants of both vehicles were discharged with only minor injuries.

One of the leading causes of accidents on Lowveld roads is impatience. This is according to Emer-G-Med spokesman, Martin Jeffrey. He made this observation after a collision between two vehicles outside Makro Riverside.
“The number one thing to avoid is speed. If motorists adhered to the speed limit, made no illegal moves and relaxed more, they would get to their destinations safely,” he said.
The collision between the two cars occurred at approximately 18:10 on Monday, resulting in one vehicle overturning.

Jeffrey said, “I speak under correction, but it appears that one of the vehicles which overturned, attempted to make a U-turn and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.”
No serious injuries were reported after the accident victims were transported to hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the overturned vehicle was taken to Mediclinic Nelspruit for treatment after complaining of chest pains.
“Fortunately, she suffered only a soft tissue injury and severe bruising. She had been wearing her safety belt, which contributed to minimising the extent of the injuries she suffered during the impact.”

There were other emergency services which responded to the scene and transported the other accident victims to hospital to ascertain the nature and extent of the injuries they suffered.
“There were four people involved in the crash, of which two were assisted by Hi-Tech Medical Services and one by Care Well. Two were transported to Kiaat Hospital while Emer-G-Med transported the driver of the overturned car to Mediclinic Nelspruit.”

He could not confirm which hospital the third victim was transported to. Jeffrey confirmed that the three victims were all discharged after receiving treatment.
“Because of the nature of their injuries, they were discharged the same evening and were free to go home after the traumatic experience.”
He appealed to road users to obey traffic laws, relax more and slow down to avoid collisions.
“The important things to note are to adhere to the speed limit, do not make illegal moves like a U-turn across a solid line and be patient, then crashes on our roads will be avoided.”
