Traffic officer to appear in court after pedestrian killed

The incident happened at about 06:00 on February 27 on Samora Machel Drive.

The Nelspruit police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a vehicle driven by a traffic officer hit and killed a pedestrian last Thursday.

“The traffic officer was going to work when the incident took place. The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide,” said  Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesperson for the police.

He adds that a warning statement was obtained and taken to the public prosecutor for a decision.
